SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Program Manger: Career Paths and with the support of the job search advisor, the Career Advisor is responsible for all aspects of service delivery to the Participants on their caseload.
The employment counsellor assesses the Participant’s eligibility, provides all career assessment and planning services, refers to skill enhancement services and coordinates workplace practice opportunities with the job developer.

The employment counsellor assesses the Participant’s eligibility, provides all career assessment and planning services, refers to skill enhancement services and coordinates workplace practice opportunities with the job developer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands the Program Service Levels and Performance Measures document in the Contract;
- Understands the eligibility criteria set by the Ministry and conducts eligibility assessments with all Participants prior to program acceptance;
- Conducts information sessions to provide Participants with an orientation to and information about the program and assessment process;
- Maintains up-to-date databases and Participant file content;
- Conducts and or coordinates comprehensive assessments to develop a career action plan and career portfolio. Elements of assessment include: essential skills, transferable skills, Canadian Language Assessments, financial means, vocational and education background and technical skills;
- Develops Career Portfolio and Individualized Career Action Plans (to identify strengths, address skills gaps, and to enhance Participant employability in the transportation or construction industry);
- Coordinates internal and external skill enhancement services and manages the aspects of enrolment and payment;
- Develops and facilitates workshops to groups of Participants;
- Provides vocational counselling to guide, coach and support Participants to increase their confidence and capacity to participate in employment related activities;
- Provides day-to-day case management and administrative duties pertaining to the Participant. These include documentation of actions and progress, report writing, ensuring timelines are met, and communicating and developing ongoing relationships with employers, and internal and external service providers;
- Participates in all program related meetings;
- Provides ongoing feedback to the Program Manager (and other individuals as required) in regards to the delivery of the Career Paths program;
- Willingness to participate in one of the Wellness Committees;
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.

Education:
Membership in either the Western Canada Career Association (WCCDA) preferred. | |
