Registered Clinical Counsellors


  • STATUS:               Part-Time  Employment (Full-time opportunities may also be available)
  • LOCATIONS:        North Vancouver, Burnaby, Newton,  South Surrey 


Under the direction of the Health Services Manager- Legacies Health Centre, the Clinical Counsellor is responsible for the facilitation of education classes, relaxation training groups, and individual psychological treatment/counselling sessions.


All Clinical Counsellors comply with the ethical and professional standards as outlined by their Association (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors). Clinical Counsellors also comply with Back in Motion’s Code of Ethical Conduct.


  • Provide solution-oriented counseling addressing a variety of clients with concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress management, interpersonal skills, relationship issues etc.
  • Provide in person, one on one as well as remote counseling for clients in crisis
  • Provides short-term, one-on-one psychological support and/or treatment to LTD &/or WSBC Programs and Services; this may include provision of empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment);
  • Provides time-limited, empirically validated psychological treatment (such as Cognitive Behavioural Treatment) for clients with a range of presenting problems/diagnoses;
  • Completes intake, progress, and discharge reports in a timely manner and as specified in agreements laid out with customer;
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and other records;
  • Works effectively in an multidisciplinary team environment; communicate and consult with team members as appropriate;
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, as appropriate, with the referral source/customer;
  • Demonstrates solid clinical judgment;
  • Provides crisis intervention as required;
  • Adheres to Back In Motion policies/procedures/practices, as well as standards of service;
  • Reviews contracts and ensures adherence to contractual obligations/responsibilities.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of the practice of counselling in a rehabilitation environment.
  • At least 1 year of counselling experience
  • Motivated to work with the team to build a solid client base in the communities we service


  • M.A. in Clinical Psychology or equivalent

Memberships & Associations: 

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology: Registered or eligible for registration with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors

Skills & Attributes:


  • Excellent skills in providing short-term psychological treatment/counselling and skills training.
  • Knowledge of effective pain management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in a rehabilitation context.
  • Experience working with third party providers.
  • Experience treating clients who have experienced trauma would be an asset
