Physiotherapist and Program Manager

Back in Motion Rehab is looking for a permanent, full-time Clinician/ Program Manager for our Coquitlam team!

  • POSITION TITLE:           Clinician and Program Manager
  • REPORTS TO:               Rehabilitation Services Manager
  • LOCATION:                  Coquitlam Clinic
  • STATUS:                      Full Time, Permanent
  • HOURS OF WORK:        Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. (On occasion may be required to work evenings or weekends)

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Manager, the Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program under their accountabilities operate in an efficient, cost-effective, and ethical manner.  In addition, they oversee the clinical staff working in the programs as well as liaise with relevant stakeholders.  As a leader of the organization, the OR2 Manager promotes Back in Motion Rehab by upholding and sharing the corporate Mission Statement and Core Values of the company.

The OR2 Manager is a clinician (Physical Therapist) who has experience working in an interdisciplinary team environment, has a clear understanding of the bio-psychosocial approach to rehabilitation, and is familiar with Back in Motion Rehab’s treatment programs and rehabilitation Policies and Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operations: The OR2 Clinic Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the OR2 program and for ensuring efficient and effective service delivery and quality control.  This includes monitoring and analysing Key Performance Indicators to improve service delivery as well as providing ongoing clinical reasoning support to staff.
  • Human Resources: The OR2 Manager is responsible for overseeing the training, including written training plans and job descriptions, and competency and performance evaluations of staff (Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Kinesiologists, RCCs and Administrative Staff) and participates in their Professional Development process.  They are also accountable for the delivery of the Manager’s orientation to new staff and works with the Human Resources Department in the recruitment and termination process as needed. In addition, the OR2 Manager may be responsible for coordinating student field work or other shadowing requests.
  • Clinical Work and Discipline Specific Mentorship: The OR2 Manager takes on a clinical caseload to ensure ongoing efficient and effective service delivery.  They are also responsible for the provision of clinical mentorship.
  • Committees: The OR2 Manager oversees and ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the committees that fall under their area of accountability (CARES, Professional Development, File Review, Health and Safety, CARF and Social, Accessibility and Diversity Committees).
  • Facilities:  The OR2 Manager is responsible for working with the Facilities Co-ordinator to ensure that staff members have the tools and equipment necessary to perform their jobs.  This also includes equipment purchases and maintenance, space allocation, and supplies and equipment for the facility.  .
  • Finances and Budgeting: The OR2 Manager is responsible for creating the program budget (with assistance from accounting and General Manager as required) and adhering to the approved budget.
  • Stakeholders Relations: As a company, clinic and program representative, the OR2 Manager liaises with different stakeholders including professional bodies, colleges, universities, WorkSafe BC and other insurance companies.  This may involve networking, clinic tours, quality assurance, marketing presentations etc.
  • Strategic Planning: The OR2 Manager is accountable for understanding and interpreting the corporate vision, as well as implementing the strategies related to achieving this vision at the clinic level and in the programs and services that fall under their accountability.
  • Special Projects: The OR2 Manager is accountable for co-ordinating the preparation process for the CARF accreditation at the clinic level, as well as for being a key resource for RFP responses as needed.  They may also be involved in other special projects as required.
  • Other: The OR2 Manager serves as a resource to process Freedom of Information requests. The Rehabilitation Services Manager is also responsible for scheduling and coordinating business meetings with all staff. They may also field and direct phone calls as appropriate and support other management as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years working as a clinician in an active rehabilitation program, preferably vocational in nature.
  • Good working knowledge of program management, standard office equipment and software applications.
  • Preference is given to candidates with supervisory, managerial or business experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the related literature and the psycho-social aspects of disability and rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the larger Back in Motion picture, vision and business plan.

Education: 

  • Degree/Masters in Physical Therapy is required.
  • Previous course work in relevant topics such as Organisational Behaviour, Human Resources Management, Financial Planning and Management, Project Management etc.

Memberships & Associations: 

  • Registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC) or eligible for registration

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working with insurance companies such as WorkSafe BC, ICBC, Great West Life etc.
  • Knowledge/experience in evidence based orthopaedic practice with a strong emphasis on active rehabilitation. 
  • Knowledge of the related literature and the psycho-social aspects of disability and rehabilitation.
