Senior Accountant

POSITION TITLE:           Senior Accountant

PROGRAM:                   Finance

REPORTS TO:               Controller

LOCATION:                  Surrey Head Office

STATUS:                      Full Time

HOURS OF WORK:        Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. (On occasion may be required to work evenings or weekends)

 

 

SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant works under the guidance of the Controller in preparing and reporting financial statements conforming to principles of accounting and regulatory requirements. The main role is to ensure that the financial statements are prepared in accordance with management’s instructions.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and documenting ad-hoc, monthly and quarterly journal entries general journal entries;
  • Reviewing accounts payable transactions;
  • Preparing monthly financial statements;
  • Preparing weekly metrics;
  • Preparing and filing GST returns, PST returns and corporate tax installments;
  • Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances, including bank reconciliations;
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules;
  • Liaising with accounting software, system vendors and consultants;
  • Assisting in the company’s monthly and yearly closing;
  • Performing other related duties and required or assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 Years’ experience working in progressive accounting roles.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Federal and Provincial regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications.

Education:

  • University degree in Business/Accounting, working towards professional accounting designation preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting.
